Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th in 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her debut EP Pho. The EP was where she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 as she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self launched single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. it out on July 21st. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her create Rihanna reference. The announcement of her decision to sign with Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat is a song that she co-wrote with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening artist. In 2018, she was able to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music clip was released, followed by a music video September. On the 9th of November the singer released two new singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a single on its own in February of 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The song was followed by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube in one week. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
